Utilizing the Digital Landscape in and out of the Classroom: How Current Communication Technologies Foster Community and Scholarship

Panel Description:

Scholars from a myriad of teaching topics discuss specific ways to use, engage, and promote community building and scholarship through communication technologies. Technologies and platforms to be discussed include Google Glass, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, Panopto, and mobile apps (e.g., YikYak, Snapchat). Audience members will learn about technologies within their reach, how these platforms can better inform students about research, and how communication on such platforms cultivates a community of scholars. Audience members will engage with technologies through hands-on experimentation during the session and by accessing a central webpage dedicated to the panel’s artifacts.
